President Maithripala Sirisena will attend the ceremony as the Chief guest with the participation of the Minister of Parliament Reforns and Mass media, Gayantha Karunathilaka and the Minister of Internal Affairs, North- Western Development and Cultural Affairs S.B. Nawinna. The ceremony is being held with the objective of conferring state honors on tele-artistes and for the qualitative advancement of the field of television creations.
Awards will be presented to Sinhala and Tamil tele-artistes under 35 categories including best teledrama (single episode) best tele-actor and actress, director, news reader, news reporting, musical programme , magazine programme etc. Golden, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to television short films.
The life time television award will be presented to Mr. Shan Wickramasingha who was pioneering in establishing the first television channel in Sri Lanka. The 9th volume of “Rupavahini Sameeksha” will also be launched at this occasion.
Television programmes telecast as at 31st December 2014 by all T.V. channels in Sri Lanka have been considered for evaluation by a proficient Panel of Judges.
