The UN high commissioner for human rights, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, paid a visit to Sri Dalada Maligawa this morning (08).
He met the Malwathu Maha Thera today.
During the meeting Malwathu Maha Thera Thibbotuwave Sumangala Thera pointed out that the act of current president Maithreepala Sirisena forgiving the terrorist, who attempted to assassinate him, set the best model for reconciliation prevailing in the country.
The Thera also claimed that the Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and Burgher ethnicities of the country work united, and a highest level of reconciliation prevails in Sri Lanka at the moment.
The UN high commissioner for human rights, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, began a four-day official visit on February 06 to Sri Lanka at the invitation of the Sri Lankan government.
