A group of foreign representatives, including 33 Ambassadors and High Commissioners visited underdeveloped areas in the Polonnaruwa district Monday (March 14) with the aim of providing aid to develop these areas.
The delegation commenced their tour from the Medirigiriya, Meegaswewa area and inspected the areas including Wadigawewa, Godapoththa, and Palliyagodalla.
President Maithripala Sirisena hosted a lunch for the delegation in Polonnaruwa.
Following the lunch, the diplomats visited the Mahawelitanna village in the Welikanda Divisional Secretariat as well as the Sinhapura School and Muslim and Tamil villages in Kudapokuna.
The delegation included Ambassadors and High Commissioners of Japan, Netherlands, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Myanmar, Iran, Brazil, Korea, Italy, Pakistan, Egypt, Vietnam and Maldives.
Local Government and Provincial Councils, Minister Faizer Mustapha has organized the tour.
