Closing ceremony of the “Yowun Puraya 2016, the national youth program held in the Air force camp in Sigiriya took place on Saturday (2nd April) with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Yowun Puraya 2016, held with the intention of improving the leadership skills and the knowledge of the youth leaders. According to the organisers over 5,000 youth leaders representing all the districts and around 100 foreign youth leaders came for this year’s event.
President participating the event inspected the youth camps created by youth teams of all the districts and presented prizes to the youth winners.
Symbolizing the program, which was held after 28 years a stamp was released and it was presented to the President by the Minister of Post, Post services, and the Muslim Religious Affairs Abdul Halim.
Yowun Puraya 2016 was organized by the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs under the instructions of the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Top government ministers, Chief Ministers of Western and Central Provinces, Commanders of tri-forces, Inspector General Police (Act.), Chairman of the National Youth Service Council Eranda Weliangage were also present.
