The Department of Government Information has strongly condemned the attack against Journalist Freddy Gamage.

Issuing a statement, Director General of the department, Dr. Dharshani Gunathilake said that the incident is a barbaric act. Freddy Gamage is the convener of the Web Journalists Association and also the editor of the ‘Meepura’ divisional newspaper.

Freddy Gamage was assaulted by two people wearing full face helmets when he was returning after covering the Negombo Urban Council Meeting.
