Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Agriculture was graced with the presence of Hon. Keheliya Rambukwella, State Ministry of Mass Media and Digital Infrastructure, Dr. Charitha Herath, Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa, Director General of the Department of Government Information and the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture. 

At this event, Hon. Ministers initiated planting jak trees at the premises of the Department of Government Information and distributed jak trees among public officers. The campaign of planting ten million jak trees islandwide has been launched in line with the intensified agricultural development programme “We Grow – We Eat”. As its first phase, the programme of planting five million jak trees has been initiated.
This campaign has been organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Govi Jana Seva Department, Hadabima Authority, National Food Promotion Board and the Department of Government Information.
