Nineteen (19) Midshipmen of 32nd Intake (Technical) & Forty four (44) Midshipmen of 33rd Intake KDU and Twenty six (26) Midshipmen of 59th Intake cadet entry have been passed out as commissioned Officers of the Sri Lanka Navy.
President Maithripala Sirisena graced the Commissioning Parade as the Chief Guest.
Midshipmen who excelled during their training were presented with special awards by the President in recognition of their outstanding performances.
The grand Commissioning ceremony was culminated with the band display by Navy Band and cultural performance presented by the Sri Lanka Navy Cultural Troupe followed by the colourful and traditional Ceremonial Sunset.
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, Governor of Northern province, Secretary to Ministry of Defence, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force were also witness the ceremony. In addition Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, Naval Area Commanders, Director Generals of the Navy, Senior Officers representing tri-services, Defence attaches of foreign missions in Sri Lanka and the senior Police Officers of the area were also among the distinguished invitees. Further, nearly 350 family members of the newly Commissioned Officers were also present to witness the Commissioning Parade.
