Mr. Palpita began his career in the public service as an Audit Examiner of the Auditor General’s Department. Later, he entered the Sri Lanka Administrative Service. As an Administrative officer, he served as the Assistant Director of Combined Services, Assistant Secretary to the President, Government Accountant of the President’s Fund, Director and the Acting General Manager of the Development Lottery Board, Director General of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, and as the Deputy Director, Director and also the first Director General of the Department of Government Information.

 

He also became the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Lankapuvath Limited and Selacine Television Institution. Mr. Palpita who was also the Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka is a B.Com (Special) degree holder of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a Master of Professional Accounting degree holder of the Victoria University, Melbourne Australia in 2003/2004.

 

Prior to being appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media, he was appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Industries on December 19, 2020 and later as the Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Policies and Plan Implementation by the President.
